DROP ARM GATE

The DROP ARM GATE (DAG) combines the utility of a traditional traffic control gate with the security of a crash-rated barrier to deter, deny and delay threats as they occur. The DAG can secure multiple lanes of traffic or wide checkpoints, up to 24 feet, providing security, access, and safety for government, utility, energy, manufacturing, industrial, or commercial properties.

OVERVIEW

The DROP ARM GATE (DAG) combines the utility of a traditional traffic control gate with the security of a crash-rated barrier to deter, deny and delay threats as they occur. The DAG can secure multiple lanes of traffic or wide checkpoints, up to 24 feet, providing security, access, and safety for government, utility, energy, manufacturing, industrial, or commercial properties.

The unique, fully-vertical position (90° up) allows for unobstructed use of the roadway, safe positioning of the arm, and minimal setback from the roadway opening. The DAG includes a positive locking device for securing the arm in the down position. The DAG’s passive safety latching mechanism engages on vehicle impact. The DAG is available in manual and operated models. The operated DAG is entirely electro-mechanical, making it ideal for sites where hydraulic fluids are prohibited. Counterweights can be adjusted in manual operation to require minimal force for raising and lowering.

Boasting a duty cycle of 120 cycles per hour, the electro-mechanical DAG allows for fast processing of vehicles at controlled access points. It features a warning horn, flashing light, edge sensor, and photoelectric sensor in accordance with UL 325 standards. Operated models include control panel, controls, and electro-mechanical operator; and is preconfigured for easy integration of additional access control and safety devices as well as integration of barrier command and control from multiple control locations.

Offering crash-rated protection up to 20,000 lbs at 50 mph, the DAG’s modular option fits your temporary or portable security needs. A DAG with a concrete barrier requires no excavation, allowing you to place them at virtually any location.

  • No excavation

  • Easily placed and relocated

  • Forklift and lift hook compatible

  • No site or foundation preparation required

The DAG with a standard foundation can be installed across existing roadways with only minimal excavation and primary excavation is outside the roadway opening, avoiding underground utilities and other obstructions.

  • Minimal excavation outside roadway opening

  • Zero set-back from roadway

  • Small footprint

FEATURES & BENEFITS

  • Crash Beam constructed with high strength steel and counterbalanced for easy manual operation when not powered.

  • Superpost Assemblies constructed with high strength steel and anchored on three sides with concrete blocks. Superpost Assemblies are installed above grade, avoiding underground utilities with no excavation required.

  • Receiver MagLock securely locks the beam in place to prevent unauthorized entry.

  • Operating Speed of no more than 5 minutes to secure the barrier in the closed position.

  • Flashing Lights warn traffic when the barrier is moving to prevent entrapment.

  • Warning Horn indicates when the barrier is in motion, avoiding potential vehicle damage or personal injury.

  • Signage and Caution Markings act as visual deterrents and can be seen long before a vehicle approaches the barrier.

Optional LED lights and brightly colored finishes are available.

  • Photoelectric Sensors mitigate risk by preventing the operating beam from closing on authorized vehicles.

  • Electro-mechanical Operator has no risk of hydraulic fluid contamination. Ideal for sites where hydraulic fluids are prohibited.

  • High Duty Cycle ensures continuous traffic flow.

  • Operator Cover locks and encloses the operator with welded steel, preventing unauthorized entry or manipulation. All electrical components are fan cooled and shielded from extreme temperatures and water damage.

  • Emergency Fast Operation (EFO) switch closes the secure beam within 5 seconds, safeguarding against unexpected assailants.

  • Performs through extreme temperatures ranging from -10° to 150° F (-23° to 65° C)

  • Backup or uninterrupted power supply (UPS) are available, ensuring protection in the event of a power failure.

  • Drop Arm Barriers deploy at a normal operating speed of 10 seconds, from horizontal to fully vertical at 90°, allowing for unobstructed use of the roadway.

  • Operators function at a high-duty cycle with 120 open/close cycles per hour, capable of executing 100,000 cycles without disruption.

  • Operation Setup is fast and straightforward: the control panel is easily programmed within minutes.
